How Data Plane Emulators Work

Available on Starter Standard Team Compare plans →

Locally ships with a growing number of Data Plane Emulators, which are automatically provisioned when you create a resource - for example, creating a Storage Account provisions a Storage Emulator.

These Data Plane Emulators get a real DNS domain and support the same authentication approaches as Azure, such as Bearer Tokens and Access Keys - and you can provision as many as you need, each with its own hostname, access keys and so on.

In some cases these Data Plane Emulators also offer functionality that goes beyond what's available in Azure - for example, the Service Bus Emulator lets you see a timeline of when messages were delivered, pause and resume queues or force a message into the Dead Letter Queue (DLQ) for testing.

Each Data Plane Emulator also comes with its own UI, so that you can really understand what's happening. More information about each emulator can be found on its dedicated page in the Data Plane Emulators section - or jump straight to one below.
